August 2021 Update
We are pleased to provide an update on the Wanderers & Titans (W&T) Foundation following the recent third-quarter
board meeting.
The Foundation currently has 9,500 SGD in the account along with another 13,000 SGD from the Ron Lowe Memorial
Fund.
We also have some International Rugby memorabilia that we will look to auction off when things become more open
to raise further funds for the Foundation.
The W&T Foundation is very pleased to announce the first example of the positive impact we can make for young
players as a result of the generosity and support from both clubs.
The Board has agreed to give assistance to a Titans U17 player from a disadvantaged background.
While we are declining to name the recipient, he is an active member of the Titans U17 Squad and is well regarded
and respected by the players and coaches.
The Ron Lowe Memorial Fund through the Foundation will cover his Titans Club fees which includes playing & training
uniform, provide a transport subsidy to assist with getting to and from training and assist in the purchase of new
boots, while Wanderers RFC will pass along some great rugby stash.
Members of the Titans & Wanderers Club will also be available to give assistance and guidance to the player on
various aspects of his schooling, job applications and part-time work opportunities should he be in need of them.
In return, the candidate has agreed, to the best of his ability, to keep playing and training at Titans RFC until the end of
2021 and then join Wanderers RFC as an U19 Player.
He will also, before his own training, assist with the coaching of the 5- to 10-year Titans age groups, which includes
Ron’s boys Lachlan and Oliver.
Finally, the candidate has agreed, where possible, to act as a role model to other disadvantaged youths coming into
Titans RFC and encourage them on their rugby journeys.
This is exactly how we envisaged the W&T Foundation supporting both boys and girls within the community through
engagement in the sport we all love, rugby.
We look forward to expanding on this initial initiative.
Finally, with the COVID-19 restrictions continuing to hamper rugby in Singapore, the Foundation remains limited in our
ability to distribute and raise funds as actively as we had planned.
However, rather than distribute funds for the sake of it, the Board remains committed to searching for opportunities
to support individuals that meet the original mission statement of the Foundation.
As Singapore starts to slowly open, so will the opportunities to support worthy causes, along with the chance to host
more events and activities to raise funds for the Foundation.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those that have supported the initiative so far and look forward to
making a positive impact within our rugby community in the coming months.
